Summer Wreath Update

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the summer wreath. I'm teaching this as a set of three classes - lavender, sunflower, wreath greenery.

The lavender pattern requires 1 minor adjustment and I can post it.

The sunflower pattern requires an adjustment to the sepals. I really do not like what I have done for the sepals right now and have been trying to come up with an alternative. I think I have something in mind and will make an update to this soon.

The wreath...ah, the monkey on my back. I've already worked through a quarter kilo of beads and am starting the second quarter kilo bag. I believe they are the same color but slightly different dye lots. Or I could be completely mistaken. Either way, too late now, and I have an emerald green transitioning to a slightly lighter green!

Coming this weekend!

Small sunflower. It's intended for a summer floral wreath. I like having a wreath hanging on my door, even more so if it's beaded. It's my summer wreath series. There is a lavender, a sunflower and some greenery. The lavender instructions...I wasn't quite with it when I wrote it so there were two details I forgot to put in it so I still need to go back and fix that. I'm working on the sunflower instructions now. Class is Saturday at 10am at Bead Obsessions so it will be done by then. For now:

Bead It! 3 - Autumn Wreath

Tonight was the Gallery Opening for the Bead It! 3 exhibit and my wreath won first place in the non wearable art exhibit! Eee! I'm so excited!

Me and Wreath

I had completed this a couple of years ago. It is Donna DeAngelis Dickt's Fall Berry Wreath pattern. Onto the wreath, I've added a couple of Donna's cosmos and some wheat stalks I had lying about. I bring it out in the fall and hang it on my door.
This is currently on display at the Del Ray Artisan's Gallery: 2704 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria, VA. The exhibit runs through November 30th. I'll be gallery sitting on the 15th. Come on down and say hi!

Bead It! 3

For those of you in the DC area, next Friday, November 7, 2008 is the gallery opening of "Bead It! 3", a show put on by The Del Ray Artisans. I have two pieces in the show. I have a wreath based on Donna Dickt's Fall Berry Wreath. I modified it slightly by adding a couple of stalks of wheat and some cosmo flowers. Sorry, no picture. My other entry is an orchid:

Hyacinth

French Beaded Hyacinth

I like hyacinths and their fragrance but they never last very long. I've bought the hyacinth pots that are packaged at the supermarket. I've bought hyacinth bulbs to force in the winter. They last a couple of weeks and then they're gone. At least this way, I'll have the beauty of the flowers lasting longer than that.

This pattern gives step by step instructions to make everything from the flowers to the bulbs and the roots. If the bulbs aren't your thing, then there is no need to make them. Just plant the hyacinth stalk at the base of the leaves.

This is an "intermediate" level pattern.

Techniques you should be familiar with:
* Basic technique
* Lacing

Techniques covered:
* Cross over technique - both three row and four rows

This is a 12 page instruction booklet.
